The Importance of Pet Insurance
Owning a pet can be very costly at times. This may be especially true when they become sick or injured and require professional care. Getting checkups at least twice a year can ensure that the pet remains in good health; however, the costs of veterinary checkups and general care can become very expensive. The out-of-pocket expenses for each visit can become extremely overwhelming. Acquiring Pet Insurance can help pet owners with maintaining the health of their pet without compromising their personal finances. ASPCA Pet Insurance offers four different levels of coverage to meet the individual needs of pets and their owners.
ASPCA Pet Insurance provides affordable coverage for all dogs and cats of any age. The costs are dependant upon the pet’s age and breed as well as any ongoing conditions or illnesses that may have a need for continual treatment. Depending on the level of protection that is chosen, cats and dogs can be protected in the case of an accident, illness, or any condition that requires routine care.
Level 1 Coverage
The level 1 coverage protects the pet in the case of an accident. It pays for any hospitalization that may be required due to an accident as well as any surgeries and x-rays that may be needed. Types of accidents that are covered include burns, broken bones, and poison ingestion. Level 1 protection does not offer any other type of coverage other than accidental. The maximum benefit for one incident is limited to $2,500 while the maximum amount of coverage annually is limited to $8,000.
Level 2 Coverage
Purchasing level 2 insurance coverage provides the same benefits as level 1 plus an added benefit of illness coverage. Hospitalizations, x-rays, and surgeries do not have to be related to an accident. These procedures are covered whether they are needed to be performed due to an accident or illness. As with level 1 protection, level 2 has an annual maximum limit of $8,000; however, the benefit amount for one incident with level 2 is limited to $1,500.
Level 3 Coverage
Along with the accident and illness protection, level 3 also provides coverage on annual exams, spaying and neutering, and standard vaccines. These vaccines include rabies, coronavirus, and feline and canine distemper vaccines. The maximum incident benefit is $3,500 and the annual benefit amount is limited to $11,000.
Level 4 Coverage
Level 4 coverage provides all of the benefits as the other levels plus dental cleaning, prevention against heartworm, and more advanced vaccines such as feline leukemia, feline infectious peritonitis, lyme, and bordetella vaccines. The yearly benefit amount for level 4 coverage is $13,000 and maximum incident amount is limited to $5,000.
Every level of coverage, with the exception of level 1 protection, provides the option of purchasing extra protection with the Continuing Care insurance. This type of protection can be extremely helpful with any chronic conditions that require medical attention on an ongoing basis. Continuing Care cannot be purchased in the middle of an insurance policy and can only be purchased at the beginning of enrollment or when the plan renews.
Options for Every Level of Protection
Every level of protection reimburses 80% of all covered charges that are incurred and also has a $100 annual deductible charge. ASPCA Pet Insurance also offers discounts for multiple pets and offers a money back guarantee. If not satisfied within 30 days, customers can cancel their insurance and request a full refund as long as no claims have been submitted in that time frame.
